Listen to Angela: GH Preview for Week of Dec. 16 - Enough to Stop the Water

Enough to Stop the Water

Love and Happiness

With trepidation, Britt decides to spill at least some of the beans to Nik regarding Ben’s origins, but whether the pot is empty by the time she’s done is up for question.  Has she told him everything, and is it going to be enough for Nik?  Meanwhile, Mutter is across town, locked in a battle of epic brain chess with Anna Devane.  Obrecht wants to know where Faison is, and she knows Anna knows.  But neither is willing to give in to the other, and the upshot is that Mutter puts the screws to her daughter – again.  Britt, however,  could be at her threshold, and the last of the umbilical may be severed this time.

Having worked up the resolve and courage to give surrogacy another try, Lulu and Dante’s trip to the lab at General Hospital must have been equal parts tentative hope and mounting giddiness. But their discovery upon arrival sends them reeling – and could have some unexpected effects on their relationship and marriage. The Falconeris, understandably, want answers, and as Dante confides in Anna, he receives a phone call that may actually give them what they need.

Yesterday

After his much-needed conversation with the eternally level-headed Epiphany, Patrick finally seems to be ready to talk, and asks Robin to meet with him.  She receives some welcome support from Sam, after which she goes to the Drake house – for the first time since she’s returned to Port Charles.  While there, Anna and Duke arrive with Emma, and soon afterward, there is a knock at the door…

Sabrina, preparing for the holidays, has finished wrapping Emma’s gifts, and leaves word with Patrick as to how they should be delivered.  Felix offers support and a Dubois-style pep talk before heading out, admonishing Sabrina not to give up hope. After he’s gone, there’s a knock on her door…

Paradise Circus

Morgan and Ava’s relationship seems to be developing towards a more serious bent, with Morgan even more determined than before to prove his worth to the Jeromes and demonstrate he’s not just a young man  with a dream.  While he offers up a do-over proposal to make up for his bungling of the bug, Julian isn’t especially optimistic at his future success – warning Ava that Morgan has almost outlived his usefulness.
Morgan visits Molly, who is unsettled enough after an argument with TJ, and warns her that as long as her boyfriend is in Shawn’s orbit, his safety is not guaranteed.

To add salt to that soup, Molly later overhears her mother and Julian talking; the names ‘Carlos’ and ‘Lucas’ being bandied about like volleyballs.  Alexis,  no stranger to the game, keeps her wits and holds her own against Julian’s persistence.  She also makes sure to give Luke a call so he can warn Bobbie; Lucas’ father is closing in on the answers he wants.

Secret World

There are some things about Rafe which Sam wants to discuss with Silas, so she heads off to the hospital to talk to him privately.  Privately and quickly, things become very heated and romantic, until a phone call interrupts them – a phone call from the NYPD that makes Silas edgy. When Sam heads out again, Silas summons Ava to the hospital and apprises her of the communication, to which she raises the perfectly-shaped eyebrow of ‘I told you so’.

Later, Sam and Silas are about to call it a day and head out, when they’re surprised to find Rafe being treated in the ER, but relieved he’s for the most part all right.  While there, Silas’ phone goes off again. And again, it’s a call that has visible effect.

Ava is worried about Morgan, since Julian has all but stamped an expiration date on her boyfriend’s backside. She’s wondering about Carlos, having not seen or heard from him in days; no one seems to have any ideas or answers.  But she may have bigger concerns to deal with. Diane breezes in to let her know that a detective with the NYPD called for Ava – requesting a meeting.

Dirty Laundry

While Anna is concealing the nature of her interaction with Robert, Duke is concealing the nature of his interaction with Julian. He had initially intended not to have anything to do with Sonny or the mob boss’ offer, but after seeing a confrontation between the two, he may reconsider that decision.  Shawn is doggedly digging into Carlos’ past, and the captive henchman knows his life is hanging by less than spidersilk. In desperation, he tries bribery, but it is ultimately another source from which he might find leverage.

When Sonny and Shawn come to the warehouse, they find their prisoner missing…but they know he’s not gone. When he shows himself, he also shows his leverage – and that’s when everything starts to go South. Shots are fired, and then more and more as others arrive on the scene, until a full firefight ensues. Some will escape…and some won’t.

Also Next Week:   Bobbie and Luke run into Julian, and Lucas makes a call to Port Charles.  Brad looks for Britt and runs into his worst nightmare.  Spinelli says goodbye to Maxie.  Patrick makes a decision.

Listen to Angela: GH Preview for Week of Dec. 9 - Practicing Kisses

Practicing Kisses

Heartache Tonight

For Sabrina, the last twenty-four hours have been a challenge to her sanity, her self-control, and her tear ducts. She’s just left her former lover and her former almost-husband to paw and snort as they glower menacingly at each other, while all she wants is a hot bath and a carton of Chunky Monkey.

Unfortunately, her morning isn’t going to get any easier. Robin shows up at the door, and while she expresses her gratitude to Sabrina for taking care of Emma, she wants her family back. To Felix’s later outrage, Robin asks an already-unnerved Sabrina to let Patrick go – and Sabrina tells Felix she wants this to be Patrick’s decision.

For his part, Patrick isn’t doing much better. His daughter, understandably confused, just wants everyone to be happy and is struggling with her joy at having her mother back, juxtaposed with the love she has for Sabrina. Once again, Patrick goes to the woman in his life who has always been his rock – Epiphany Johnson, who may be able to help him begin putting things in perspective.

After being instructed—emphatically—by an incensed Dr. Drake to steer clear of Sabrina, Carlos is feeling pretty confident despite the dire warning. Carlos isn’t particularly concerned about Patrick, and he’s probably right – seeing as Sonny and Shawn show up to collect him for a chat.   Carlos, desperate, is going to have to do some epically fast talking to convince Sonny he’s worth more alive than dead.

3AM

AJ Quartermaine may be the only person in Port Charles having a worse day than Sabrina.  His murder trial is slaloming towards the cliffhanger, and things do not look good for him, particularly after Ava’s calculated turn in the witness box.   Diane takes her client aside and gives him an ultimatum, and he subsequently gives a statement to the court.

Scott Baldwin, sniffing blood, moves in for the final coup de gras – skewering AJ on cross, and delivering what he clearly feels is a slam-dunk closing, after which the case goes to the jury and everyone settles in to wait for a verdict. . However, in a stunning turn of events, AJ never even makes it into handcuffs for the transfer back to his cell.

Heavy In Your Arms

Devastated and adrift after losing Connie, Lulu blames her husband for his failure to back her up in the custody hearing, confiding in Carly of her resentment and feelings of betrayal. Carly is sympathetic, but urges her cousin to re-examine her own part in the events; Dante is not totally to blame. Anguished, and finally unable to hold it in any longer, Lulu breaks down over the loss and the uncertainty of what happens next.

Sonny puts aside his goals of vengeance and mayhem long enough to counsel Dante to be proactive in saving himself, Lulu, and his marriage, and Dante agrees. After a long talk, he and Lulu muster the courage to try for another baby, even though Lulu is apprehensive. However, when they go to the hospital to start the ball rolling, they find there are some pieces missing.

In This Life

Last time we saw Heather, she was in Franco’s hotel room, having produced a finely-honed cooking knife that could easily filet a rhinoceros, her expression full with satisfaction and anticipation. Her attempt at emulating Mrs. Bates, however, is waylaid by her not-so-dumb son, and the ensuing events reveal yet another stunner about Heather that have Franco twitching in his sleep, almost beside himself with anxiety. Finally, unable to deal with it on his own, he goes to a surprising source for help. When he asks Kevin Collins to take him on as a patient, the psychiatrist is reluctant – and wants to make up time for his wife. Franco, however, is desperate enough to beg – and when Kevin relents, he is shocked by what Franco tells him.

Lucy has been feeling neglected and abandoned, and in moments like those, she perhaps doesn’t have the best decision-making ability. Scott, ever pragmatic, reminds her about the comments she’s made about her marriage, but Lucy is feeling conflicted and wrestles with coming clean to her husband – and whether she and Scott can remain friends.

Concerned for their mutual brother’s safety, Sam goes to Carly and tells her about blurting Lucas’ name to Julian on the docks.  Both women debate whether or not to tell Bobbie, as Julian and Ava cudgel over the out-of-the-blue name.  Back at home, Sam, after a long year of changes, adversities overcome, and fears faced, opens her door to find Silas and a Christmas tree, ready to usher in the holiday and a new year.

Also Next Week: Before leaving for Portland with Ellie, Spin makes a quick stop with a surprise visitor.  Britt and Nikolas decorate the Wyndemere Christmas tree with Spencer and Lesley, and Spencer, discerning as always, asks some very pointed questions.  Robert meets with Anna, who in turn wants Duke to promise he’ll stay clear of Julian—but Duke has a mind of his own, and takes Robert to task for facilitating Julian’s deception.

Heartache Tonight:  The Eagles, The Long Run
3AM:  Edwin McCain, Honor Among Thieves
Heavy in Your Arms:  Florence and the Machine, Between Two Lungs
In This Life: Chantal Kreviazuk, What if it All Means Something

General Hospital Video Preview: "You Have To Choose"

"You Have To Choose."

Listen to Angela: GH Preview for Week of Dec. 2 - Far From Over

*Note: This week I will be posting a daily preview bullet regarding certain story elements airing on the day.

Far From Over

Miss Me Blind

Bobbie Spencer was looking forward to visiting friends and family back home in Port Charles – most particularly her brother and her daughter, whose lives of late haven’t been easy or boring.  She probably anticipated a nice long sojourn of bonding moments, reminiscing, and family time.

Well, she’s got bonding – Jerry Jacks managed to bamboozle the handcuffs off him and onto her – and their subsequent walk down charred memory lane included a fuzzy look back on their aborted trip to the altar. Family time…well, Jerry wants that Polonium cure, which Luke now has  in his hot little hands, and it’s about to draw Carly into the backwash, too. Luke has all the decision-making power in his hands, while his sister and niece are the bargaining chips for an increasingly agitated and desperate adversary. There’s no way this is going to end with a simple exchange of hostages, handshake, and “see you around”.

Life in the Fast Lane

Now that Sonny has been faithfully taking his meds and has climbed back up the heap to survey his domain, he’s drawing lines and gathering names. Allies must be counted – knowing who’s on your side, or at least who’s not on the other side – is imperative. Sonny is shoring up his game board, and Duke is a key piece in the overall strategy.  When he meets with the newly-liberated (again) former gangster, Sonny has an offer which Duke may find quite tempting.  With his troops mobilizing and a copy of Sun Tzu’s The Art of War loaded on his Kindle, Sonny intends to send a message –  and not the kind where a guy shows up in a bellboy uniform dancing the softshoe. Sonny’s curiosity and spidey-sense are also tingling over Carlos, who, it must be said, isn’t the most subtle of men. Suspicious, Sonny has Shawn start digging into the Jerome henchman’s past.

Duke’s involvement and possible threat level is nothing to sneer at, and Ava is concerned about these possibilities. She meets with Julian to try and discuss the matter, but her brother is preoccupied these days over his daughter and Alexis.  Glum, he confides with an equally morose Carlos over the Siberian freeze to which Sam and Sabrina have respectively exiled them.  When they bump into Sam and Silas, Julian’s hopes are definitively demolished, as Sam makes it blatantly clear she wants nothing to do with him.

You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away

After having been rebuffed by a reluctant, but resolute Spinelli when she tried visiting her daughter, Maxie is sinking even further out of reach and deeper into a black hole that seems very comforting and safe to her right now.  Her next sources of succor and support will be unexpected, but very much needed at a very crucial time.

Ellie, who was equally distressed and upset at having to turn Maxie away, receives some startling and exciting news which could change everything for her and Spinelli – but they’re concerned at how Maxie might respond.

Also Next Week: Britt and Nikolas share a quiet moment that deepens their connection, Mac seeks out Maxie, and Franco tells Carly about his conversation with Scott. AJ’s trial gets even more tense as Ava takes the witness box to testify against him.

 Monday Bullet:

In a stunning, unbelievable moment, Emma sees something startling at the wedding. Anna and Robert have an intense debate while Faison waits.

Songs:

Miss Me Blind: Culture Club, Colour By Numbers
Life in the Fast Lane: The Eagles, Hotel California
You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away: The Beatles, Help!
